Dental Implants at Park Royal Dental Clinic
Dental implants are widely regarded as the gold standard in tooth replacement β and at Park Royal Dental Clinic we are passionate about restoring our patients' smiles and confidence with this life-changing treatment.
An implant consists of a titanium post that is placed into the jawbone where the root of the missing tooth once was. Over a period of three to six months, the bone fuses with the titanium β a process called osseointegration β creating an exceptionally stable foundation. A custom-made ceramic crown is then attached to the implant, completing the restoration. The finished result looks, feels, and functions exactly like a natural tooth.
Unlike dentures, implants are fixed permanently. Unlike bridges, they do not require the preparation of adjacent healthy teeth. And unlike both, they replace the tooth root itself β preserving the jawbone and preventing the bone resorption that inevitably occurs when teeth are lost.

Who is dental implants suitable for?
Dental implants are suitable for most healthy adults who have lost one or more teeth. The key requirements are: sufficient jawbone density and volume to support the implant, good general health, and healthy gums. Uncontrolled diabetes and active gum disease need to be addressed before implant placement. Smoking significantly increases the risk of implant failure and is a factor we will discuss with you honestly.
Patients who have been missing teeth for some time may have experienced bone loss, which can sometimes be addressed with bone grafting prior to implant placement. We assess bone volume and density with a CBCT scan (three-dimensional X-ray) before making any treatment recommendations.
Park Royal Dental difference
Implant dentistry is one of the most technically demanding procedures in dentistry, and the experience and precision of the placing dentist is the single most important factor in long-term success. Our implant team use a fully digital workflow β from 3D CBCT scanning and digital treatment planning to guided implant placement using surgical stents that ensure millimetre-precise positioning.
We also handle the entire process in-house, from initial consultation through to the final crown. You will see the same team throughout your journey and will always know what to expect at each stage.

How much does dental implants cost?
Dental implants at Park Royal Dental Clinic start from Β£2,300 for a single implant including the implant fixture, abutment, and ceramic crown. This is competitive for a London private clinic offering the full digital workflow and clinical expertise we provide. Complex cases involving bone grafting or multiple implants are priced individually at consultation. Finance is available through Tabeo, making implants accessible for most budgets.

For the first 24 hours after implant placement: keep pressure on the gauze pad provided, avoid hot food and drink, do not rinse vigorously, and avoid strenuous exercise. Swelling and mild discomfort over the following 3β5 days is normal and managed with standard pain relief. Keep the area clean by gently rinsing with warm salt water from the day after surgery. Avoid smoking throughout the healing period β smoking impairs bone healing and significantly increases the risk of implant failure.
Dental Implants FAQs
How long do dental implants last?
The titanium implant post, when well-maintained, can last a lifetime. The ceramic crown on top typically lasts 10β15 years before needing replacement, similar to a crown on a natural tooth. Regular hygiene visits and check-ups are essential for long-term success.
Is implant surgery painful?
The surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic and is typically more comfortable than patients anticipate. You will feel pressure and movement but no sharp pain. Mild to moderate discomfort over the following few days is normal and is easily managed with paracetamol and ibuprofen.
How long does the whole process take?
From implant placement to the final crown, the process typically takes 3β6 months. The majority of this time is the healing period (osseointegration) β the surgical appointments themselves are brief. Some cases allow for an immediate or same-day temporary tooth to be placed at the time of implant surgery.
I was told I don't have enough bone β what are my options?
Bone grafting can rebuild lost bone to create sufficient volume for implant placement. Grafting techniques have advanced considerably and are now routinely carried out alongside or prior to implant surgery. We assess your bone with a 3D CBCT scan and will discuss all options clearly.
Are implants suitable if I'm a smoker?
Smoking significantly increases the risk of implant failure β research shows failure rates are approximately twice as high in smokers. We are happy to treat smoking patients but will discuss these risks in detail. Stopping smoking, at least for the healing period, substantially improves outcomes.
How do I clean an implant?
Clean an implant exactly like a natural tooth β brush twice daily and use interdental brushes or floss around the crown. Regular hygiene appointments every 6 months are essential to keep the tissue around the implant healthy and catch any early signs of peri-implant disease.
