Who is children's emergency care suitable for?
Our children's emergency service is for patients under 18 experiencing acute dental pain or trauma. Situations requiring emergency attendance include: toothache not settling with age-appropriate pain relief, dental abscess, a knocked-out or displaced tooth, a broken or fractured tooth, a filling that has come out causing pain, and soft tissue injuries to the gum, lips, or tongue.
We see both registered patients and children who are not yet registered with us.

My child knocked out a baby tooth — do I need to go to the dentist?
Yes, call us for advice. Baby teeth should not be reimplanted, but we need to assess the socket, check for remaining root fragments, and ensure the underlying adult tooth is not damaged.
My child knocked out an adult tooth — what do I do right now?
This is a true dental emergency. Pick up the tooth by the crown, not the root. Rinse gently if dirty. Try to replace the tooth back in the socket immediately if you can. If not, place it in milk or between the child's cheek and gum. Call us immediately on 020 4568 7137.
Can my child have pain relief before the appointment?
Yes. Age-appropriate doses of paracetamol or ibuprofen can help manage pain. Follow the dosing instructions for your child's age and weight.
My child is terrified — will you force them to have treatment?
Never. If a child is too distressed to accept treatment safely, we will manage their pain as best we can on the day and plan definitive treatment in a more controlled way — with sedation if needed.
