Invisalign® at Park Royal Dental Clinic

Invisalign is the world's most widely used clear aligner system, with over 16 million patients treated globally. At Park Royal Dental Clinic in NW10, we are proud to offer Invisalign treatment for patients across West London — Acton, Ealing, Harlesden, Wembley, Brent, and Park Royal itself.

The system works by using a series of custom-made, virtually invisible plastic aligners to apply gentle, controlled forces to your teeth, gradually moving them into their ideal position. Each aligner is worn for approximately one to two weeks before progressing to the next in the series. The total number of aligners — and therefore the treatment duration — depends on the complexity of your case, ranging from as few as 10 aligners for simple cases to 50 or more for complex ones.

What sets Invisalign apart from traditional fixed braces is not just the aesthetics — the removability is genuinely life-changing for many patients. You eat what you want, clean your teeth normally, and nobody needs to know you are straightening your teeth.

Is this right for me?

Who is invisalign® suitable for?

Invisalign treats a surprisingly wide range of cases — far broader than many people assume. It handles mild to moderate crowding, spacing issues, overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites with excellent predictability. Complex cases involving significant bite correction may still require traditional braces, and we will tell you honestly at consultation if Invisalign is not the right tool for your particular situation.

Ideal candidates are adults and older teenagers who are committed to wearing aligners for 20–22 hours per day. The system requires discipline — aligners left in a drawer do not move teeth. Patients who find it difficult to commit to this wear time typically get better results with fixed braces.

Why choose us

Park Royal Dental difference

Our dentists have completed Invisalign clinical training and have treated patients across a wide range of case complexities. We use the full Invisalign clinical toolkit — including attachments (small composite buttons that improve aligner grip and control specific tooth movements), IPR (interproximal reduction, where minimal enamel is removed between teeth to create space), and precision cuts for elastics where needed.

Crucially, we use ClinCheck — Invisalign's 3D treatment planning software — to create a detailed virtual simulation of your tooth movement and final result before you commit to treatment. You see exactly what your smile will look like at the end, and we only proceed once you are happy with the planned outcome.

Aftercare advice

After completing active Invisalign treatment, retainers are essential to maintain your results. Teeth naturally want to return to their original position — this is called relapse, and it affects everyone who has ever had orthodontic treatment. We provide either fixed retainers (a thin wire bonded behind your teeth, invisible and maintenance-free) or Vivera retainers (Invisalign's own removable retention system, made from the same technology as your aligners). Retainers should be worn indefinitely to protect your investment.

Common Questions

Invisalign® FAQs

How long does Invisalign take?

Treatment duration ranges from 3–4 months for very mild cases to 18–24 months for complex ones. The average full case takes around 12 months. At your consultation, after reviewing your ClinCheck, we will give you a specific time estimate for your case.

Can I eat and drink with aligners in?

You should remove aligners to eat any food and to drink anything other than plain water. Eating with aligners in can crack them; hot drinks can warp the plastic. You will spend considerable time removing and reinserting aligners around meals — this is simply part of life with Invisalign.

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

Most patients notice a very slight lisp for the first few days while their tongue adapts to the aligners. This typically resolves completely within a week. By the second week, most patients cannot notice any difference in their speech.

What are Invisalign attachments?

Attachments are small tooth-coloured composite buttons bonded to specific teeth to help the aligners grip and move teeth more precisely. They are very difficult to see and are fully removed at the end of treatment. Not every case requires them, but many do.

I've been told I need traditional braces — can Invisalign still work for me?

Not always, but often yes. Invisalign technology has advanced significantly in recent years and now treats many cases that previously required fixed braces. We are happy to review your case and give you an honest second opinion.

What happens if I lose an aligner?

Contact us as soon as possible. We will advise whether to go back to your previous aligner, move forward to your next one, or order a replacement. Replacement aligners can be ordered but incur an additional cost, so keeping them in their case when not in use is strongly recommended.
