Who is dental bridges suitable for?
Bridges are suitable for patients who have lost one or two adjacent teeth and have healthy, structurally sound teeth on either side of the gap to act as anchors. The anchor teeth need to be strong enough to bear the additional load of supporting the bridge long-term.
Bridges are not recommended when the adjacent teeth are heavily restored or already weakened, when the gap is too wide to span predictably, or when bone loss around the anchor teeth makes their long-term prognosis uncertain. In these cases, implants are usually the better option.

A standard three-unit bridge (replacing one tooth, with crowns on two adjacent teeth) therefore starts from £1,598. Larger bridges are priced accordingly. Finance is available for bridge treatment.

The most important aspect of bridge aftercare is cleaning under the artificial tooth (the pontic). Use a floss threader or superfloss to pass dental floss under the bridge daily. An interdental brush can also be effective. Come in for regular hygiene appointments so we can professionally clean under and around the bridge.

Will I be able to eat normally with a bridge?

Does getting a bridge hurt?
The preparation of the anchor teeth is carried out under local anaesthetic. Temporary crowns are placed while your bridge is being made, and the fitting appointment is usually comfortable.
